The economic national supply authority released compulsory stocks of protein feed from 01.09.2026 because low water on the Rhine and Danube slows imports (a limited, time-bound release of at most 20 per cent, no shortage of consumer goods), which only just meets the criterion of a shortage report by the federal office; without this evidence the situation would be "strained".
