SBB has announced that construction of the new electronic interlocking in Gümligen will start on 2 March 2026; it replaces the relay interlocking that has reached the end of its service life and forms the basis for further electronic interlockings on the Bern–Thun line, with works expected to take about two years. The Federal Office of Transport (BAV) has issued a partial ruling for it, while the approval for the overall Entflechtung Gümligen Süd project, which includes a 450-metre tunnel in the Hüenli forest, is still pending; main works could start in August 2026 at the earliest. The date is a placeholder: the article gives no commissioning date, so the 2 March 2026 start plus about two years of construction was used; announced on 26 Feb 2026. (LOK Report, 26 Feb 2026)
