Galgenbuck Tunnel opens at Neuhausen am Rheinfall

The 1,138-metre single-tube Galgenbuck Tunnel opened on 6 December 2019 after about eight years of construction, costing roughly CHF 215 million. As a bypass of Neuhausen am Rheinfall, it directly connects the Klettgau region (cantonal roads 13/14) to the A4 motorway toward Winterthur and Germany, substantially relieving the town centre of through and heavy-goods traffic. According to the Canton of Schaffhausen, traffic volume on the former main route through town was halved as a result.
