Announced on 04.04.2024 (public display of plans). BLS is replacing and extending its workshop at the existing Oberburg site, where it has maintained trains since 1977; construction has been under way since autumn 2025 and the foundation stone was laid on 21 October 2026. The cost of the conversion and new build is currently estimated at about CHF 277m, with commissioning planned for the end of 2028; the date is a placeholder (end of 2028). (LOK Report, 21 Oct 2026)
