Boehringer Ingelheim announced on 11 August 2026 that it has acquired Swiss biotech company Evax AG. Founded more than a decade ago as a spin-out of the University of Zurich, Evax develops therapeutic vaccines for horses, particularly against allergic skin diseases; the technology uses virus-like particles that prompt the immune system to produce neutralising antibodies. The deal builds on Boehringer's collaboration with, and subsequent 2024 acquisition of, Saiba Animal Health. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
