Swissgrid completes grid link for Nant de Drance

Swissgrid built the grid connection for the Nant de Drance pumped-storage power plant in Valais, with roughly 1 GW of evacuation capacity across three 380 kV sections (1.2 km underground cable Le Verney–La Bâtiaz, 12.5 km overhead line La Bâtiaz–Châtelard, 6.5 km underground cavern cable Châtelard–Nant de Drance). The first two sections had been operating since 2018, and the final section (underground cable through the Rhone plain near Martigny) has been in service since 1 April 2022, completing the plant's connection to the extra-high-voltage grid. Swissgrid does not disclose an investment figure.
