Bern plans new tram line to Ostermundigen

The new roughly 4.45 km tram line is planned to connect central Bern with Ostermundigen (terminating at Oberfeld), replacing today's bus line 10. Preliminary works ran on schedule from July 2024 to September 2025; no construction on the tram line itself is currently underway, and the main construction dossier is in the approval process with the Federal Office of Transport (BAV). With an estimated 4–5 year build once a legally binding permit is granted, completion is targeted around 2029; the project is carried by Tram Bern-Ostermundigen AG (BERNMOBIL, City of Bern, Municipality of Ostermundigen).
