Follow-up: what became of the announcements

Announcements are easy to make. This page shows what became of announced investments, job cuts and closures, each with a source in the entry. As long as no outcome is documented, a case counts as open; many programmes run over several years.

How the follow-up works

The daily research checks announced cases older than three months against new sources: has a plant opened, a programme finished, a project stopped or a closure been averted? The outcome is added to the entry as a dated update with its source. Without evidence the case stays open; cases checked and still running are checked again after a few months.

The headline figures on the start page leave out cancelled investments and averted job cuts; for scaled-back cases they count the number actually realised. A relocation is only recorded when the source names the destination country.
