Rapperswil railway station (Canton of St. Gallen) underwent a major SBB renovation between 2013 and 2018: the track infrastructure was fundamentally renewed (around CHF 94 million budgeted) and the old Domino 67 push-button interlocking was replaced with an electronic Simis W signal box, alongside construction of a new technical building. The station now comprises 90 switches and 160 signals across 7 platform tracks; with about 21,227 daily passengers (2018) it is the second-busiest station in the canton of St. Gallen.
