Ex Libris closes all its stores, affecting 230 jobs

Ex Libris is being closed down gradually. The 15 remaining Ex Libris branches will be closed by the end of 2026. The online business will be transferred to the Galaxus platform (a Migros subsidiary) by mid-2027. 230 employees are affected; job cuts are 'not ruled out', but Migros wants to offer affected employees jobs within the Migros Group where possible. Ex Libris was founded in 1947 as a book club and has belonged to Migros since 1956. The number of branches fell from 114 (2010) to 15 (end of 2025); revenue from CHF 190 mn to around CHF 100 mn.
