Swissgrid upgraded the 45 km high-voltage line between Bassecourt and Mühleberg, raising the voltage from 220 kV to 380 kV to improve grid and supply reliability for north-south power transmission and winter imports. After roughly 15 months of construction (starting August 2022), the line was commissioned at 380 kV on 21 November 2023, with an investment volume of approximately CHF 17 million.
