Rhine Valley double-tracking enables half-hourly Zürich–Chur service

In the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, double-track sections were built between Sevelen and Buchs (4 km), at Buchs Nord (0.9 km), and between Oberriet and Oberriet Nord (2.1 km); the Rüthi station was also upgraded into a crossing point. These upgrades enabled the InterRegio Zürich HB–St. Gallen–Sargans–Chur to run on a half-hourly schedule from the December 2024 timetable change. As part of this, the former stops Weite-Wartau and Räfis-Burgerau were decommissioned.
