Fribourg station inaugurates modernised platforms

As part of the modernization of Fribourg/Freiburg station, platforms were raised, widened and extended for step-free access; the centerpiece is a new pedestrian underpass, 100 metres long and 10 metres wide, on the station's west side. This platform modernization cost around CHF 120 million and was officially inaugurated on 26 September 2024. In a further, separate phase (2025-2029), the older underpass will additionally be renovated at a cost of roughly CHF 17 million.
