On the SBB Olten–Lucerne main line, the section between Dagmersellen (Brittnau-Wikon interlocking) and Emmenbrücke is to be upgraded to cab signalling (ETCS Level 2) under the SBB/BAV "needs-oriented ETCS L2" concept, since the local interlockings are reaching end-of-life and shorter train headways will be required. SBB Infrastructure tendered engineering services in 2025 for the broader adjoining Brittnau–Rothenburg section (track-km 48-88), including works at 7 stations and 6 stops. The tracker's source list gives 31 Dec 2031 as the completion date; the overarching BAV/SBB rollout programme cites a horizon to 2035 for comparable needs-oriented cab-signalling upgrades.
