The Wöschnau single-track tunnel is a 1,160-metre structure (a 170 m ramp, a 490 m covered section, and a 500 m ramp) that, as part of the Eppenberg tunnel project, carries the existing southern main track of the Aarau–Olten line underneath the two new tracks of the Eppenberg new-build line. The overarching project (the 3,114 m Eppenberg Tunnel) increases capacity on the Schönenwerd–Däniken section as part of the four-track expansion between Aarau and Olten. Full commissioning of both structures took place on schedule with the timetable change on 13 December 2020 (test runs had already begun on 12 October 2020).
