Zurich Airport completes runway 28 renovation

Runway 10/28 (2,500 m long, 23 m wide) at Zurich Airport was renovated: civil-engineering renewal of the concrete centreline plus electrical upgrades with three new transformer stations and conversion of runway/approach lighting to LED (a world premiere according to the operator, cutting power consumption by about 80% versus halogen). The roughly CHF 87.8 million project was carried out over about 70-80 nighttime construction closures between 2020 and 2023, with full completion scheduled for the end of 2023.
