The new 5,860-metre Albula Tunnel II of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) crosses the watershed between the Rhine and the Inn between Preda (north portal, Albula Valley) and Spinas (south portal, Engadin) in the canton of Graubünden. Construction began in August 2015; the official opening took place on 8 June 2024, with scheduled service starting on 12 June 2024. Total costs came to CHF 407 million, and the original 1903 tunnel now serves as a safety and escape tunnel.
