Deutsche Bahn has finished renovating the station building of Basel Badischer Bahnhof; the work ran from spring 2023 to autumn 2025 and cost about EUR 11.2 million (CHF 10.5 million). Among other things, the sandstone facade, the track-side rendered facades, the glazing of the main roof, arcade and city side, and 6,200 m² of roof were renovated, reusing the old tiles and renewing the loft insulation, in coordination with the cantonal heritage office and the Federal Office of Transport. Step-free access to the platforms was already completed in summer 2024; the station, finished in 1913, serves around 22,000 travellers and visitors a day. The date is a placeholder: DB gives only autumn 2025 as the end of the works, and the day of the completion announcement is used. (LOK Report, 21 Nov 2025)
