Construction started in mid-November 2024; a multi-week full closure followed in early summer 2026, and all bridges along the route (including Riethofstrasse, Balz-Zimmermannstrasse, and the A51 motorway bridge) are being rebuilt for double-track operation. Completion is planned for the end of 2026.
