Joyson Safety Systems closes Jibou plant, cutting 96 jobs

Automotive supplier Joyson Safety Systems (successor to Takata) is shutting down its plant in Jibou in Romania's north-western Sălaj county as of 30 July 2026, after around 15 years of operation since 2011; production moves to Morocco. The closure became public on 29 July 2026 at a session of the Sălaj prefectural council. The collective redundancy procedure was initially filed for 116 employees and then reduced to 96 — a figure also confirmed by Radio România. It is the second mass redundancy in Sălaj county in 2026.
