The reduction, over 12 to 18 months, mainly affects the call centers (which employ around 14,000 staff); an AI assistant is to take over customer conversations in over 20 languages. One of the largest European examples of AI-driven job cuts in 2026.
In Germany 80 to 100 positions are affected; a voluntary-redundancy programme without compulsory lay-offs is planned.
