The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region announces at its plenary session in Bordeaux on 2 April 2026 that it will award operation of the six TER lines of the former Poitou-Charentes region from early 2028 to SNCF Voyageurs rather than Transdev

The lot comprises six lines with 14,000 passengers a day, 44 trains and about 4.4 million train-kilometres a year; according to the region, service grows by 20% (22 additional trains a day on weekdays). The article gives no contract value.

It is the region's first major rail tender; after a first and a second offer, regional president Alain Rousset confirmed SNCF Voyageurs as operator before the 183 assembled delegates on 2 April 2026, thereby refuting a report by BFM Business that Transdev had won. From early 2028 SNCF will run the six lines, including Poitiers–Angoulême, Poitiers–La Rochelle and Niort–Saintes–Royan. According to the report, SNCF is also winning other tenders because it has set up dedicated subsidiaries such as SNCF Voyageurs Sud Azur, Loire Océan and Étoile d'Amiens. (LOK Report, 2 Apr 2026)
