SLNMP plans Montpellier–Béziers high-speed line for 2034

On 23 October 2025 the board of the SLNMP company announced a new EUR 68.6 million funding agreement between SNCF Réseau and the state for 2026, covering the studies needed for the tender for the combined design-and-build contract for phase 1 Montpellier–Béziers, which is due to start in September 2026. The local authorities confirmed their combined contribution of EUR 66.7 million up to 2028, and the EU has supported the project with EUR 38 million over the past ten years; construction of phase 1 is planned to begin in 2029.
