On 12 Mar 2026 the state motorway company DARS opened the first section of the northern part of the third development axis between Velenje and Slovenj Gradec in the presence of Prime Minister Robert Golob and Infrastructure Minister Alenka Bratušek: 1.8 km of new connecting road with the almost 500 m Konovo tunnel. With the two construction lots, work on the northern branch of this section is complete (N1 Slovenija, 12 Mar 2026).
