Limoges builds small hydropower plant at La Bastide treatment works

Limoges Métropole is building a small hydropower plant that exploits the natural drop of the raw-water main from the Monts d'Ambazac (from 450 m down to 330 m) and is expected to cover around 30% of the electricity consumed by the La Bastide wastewater treatment works. According to the 27 July 2026 report, construction began back in late April; completion is scheduled for summer 2027 and the €2.28 million investment should pay for itself in about nine years.
