According to a report of 4 June 2026, France has received approval from the European Commission to extend aid scheme SA.117920 for operating aid to single-wagonload rail freight for 2026–2030; the transport ministry is at the same time calling on rail companies to register their interest for the traffic run in 2026

Operating aid for single-wagonload rail freight remains available until 2030; the report does not give the amount. Initial documents for the traffic run in 2026 are due by 17 July 2026 and final documents by 19 February 2027.

The transport ministry has published a prior information notice in the EU Official Journal on a call to register the rail companies that wish to use the extended aid scheme for the single-wagonload traffic they run in 2026; it also sets out how applications are to be prepared and submitted. The ministry offers a non-binding preliminary check: applicants describe their service on one A4 page at most, plus a map, and learn whether it falls within the scheme. The aid is meant to support rail freight; the report gives no amounts. (LOK Report, 4 Jun 2026)
