State and regional commitments for transport rise to EUR 1.8 billion of investment; priorities up to 2030 are EUR 532 million for opening up the Alps (including modernisation of the Marseille–Briançon line), EUR 210 million for road access to Fos and the Étang de Berre, and over EUR 1 billion for regional transport. Almost EUR 900 million is earmarked for projects in the Bouches-du-Rhône département.
The addendum was drawn up mainly with a view to the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games and benefits all six départements of the region. It provides, among other things, for repairs to the branch lines Nice–Breil, Cuneo–Ventimiglia and Nice–Digne, a bypass near Martigues and Port-de-Bouc and the Fos–Salon road link; in the Bouches-du-Rhône département, renovation of the Côte Bleue line, a multimodal hub in Arles and more rail freight at Fos, Arles and Miramas are added. It was signed in the presence of regional president Renaud Muselier and transport minister Philippe Tabarot.
