Council of Ministers approves pay-transparency bill (transposing EU Directive 2023/970)

Companies with more than 49 employees must report seven pay-gap indicators (six automated in the private sector), pay-secrecy clauses are banned, job postings must state salary ranges, and a gap above 5% triggers mandatory action. Transition: private sector keeps the current index until 2027, new indicators from 2028; public sector by 2028 (employers >150 staff) or 1 June 2030 for others.

The French Council of Ministers adopted a bill on 10 September 2026 transposing EU Directive (EU) 2023/970 of 10 May 2023 on pay transparency between women and men. The law affects hiring practices, access to pay information, and the measurement of the gender pay gap (lexisveille.fr / Council of Ministers agenda, 10 Sept 2026).
