The European Commission positively assesses on 29.09.2026 France's fifth and final payment request of €6.1bn under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGenerationEU)

France would thus receive the full €40.3bn allocated to its recovery and resilience plan; payment follows the opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee and a Commission decision.

According to the Commission, France has met the remaining milestones and targets of its recovery plan with its fifth and final payment request, including energy renovation of public buildings and private homes, transport projects, hydrogen and hospital modernisation. In total France is entitled to €40.3bn from the Facility, which expires at the end of 2026 (European Commission, 29.09.2026).
