Poundland extends store closures past 100 sites in total

Poundland confirms a further wave of closures: 14 stores by early February 2026, which together with 19 previously announced makes 33 additional sites; the restructuring thereby passes 100 closures in total. Reason: restructuring following the takeover for £1 by investment fund Gordon Brothers. The estate of around 800 UK stores was to be reduced to 650–700. Update: the restructuring ended in January 2026 at around 149 closures and 651 remaining stores.
