CMA CGM completes acquisition of Freightliner UK

The shipping and logistics group CMA CGM has completed its acquisition of Freightliner Ltd, a leading British provider of intermodal rail freight services; the report gives no purchase price. By its own account Freightliner has 10 terminals and 2,000 wagons and is to continue as an independent intermodal service provider open to several customers. The bulk freight business has been split off as Heavy Haul Rail (17 million tonnes of freight a year, 95 locomotives, 950 staff) and starts out independently under its existing owners, who also own freight railways in Poland, Germany and the Netherlands; the Freightliner name and the intermodal business went to CMA CGM (LOK Report, 30 Jan 2026).
