On 15 September 2026 the state vocational-training agency Afpa (headquartered in Montreuil) presented its board and central works council with a restructuring plan: up to 867 posts would go and 400 new ones be created (a net loss of about 470), 30 of its 142 centres are threatened with closure and 68 sites would be wholly or partly disposed of. Reports cite a 25 percent fall in turnover and a 39 percent fall in trainee numbers between 2021 and 2025; the state is to provide €180 mn, to be repaid from property sales. The CGT, FO and Sud unions reject the plan and have called a strike; consultation of staff bodies is under way (ici, 15.09.2026).
