The Dutch bicycle group (brands including Haibike, Ghost, Winora, Lapierre, Batavus, Sparta, Koga, Raleigh and Babboe) was granted a preliminary suspension of payments for its holding company and Dutch subsidiaries on 5 August 2026, after a planned takeover by Tri Star E-Moving collapsed the previous evening. The group employs around 2,000 people across 15 countries; court-appointed administrators are now assessing which business units can be continued. Update (11 Aug 2026): The Amsterdam court ended the provisional suspension of payments and declared Accell Group Holding B.V. and its Dutch subsidiaries bankrupt (faillissement), turning the moratorium into full insolvency proceedings. The entities affected include Batavus, Koga, Sparta, Babboe, Bikes & More, EBSC, Loekie, Juncker Bike Parts, XLC and Lepper Saddles. The unions give differing headcounts for the Netherlands: FNV says 340, CNV more than 350 — no group-wide figure across all countries is available, so the numeric field remains empty. The trustees said they are examining whether parts of the group can be sold as part of a restart, and want to keep operations running in the short term. Dublin-based investor Quanta Capital, led by former professional cyclist Mel Sutcliffe, is preparing a bid together with other investors according to DutchNews; no quantified offer had been made at the time of reporting (single-source reporting). The German entities remain in their own self-administration proceedings (separate entry of 7 Aug 2026), and Raleigh (UK) and Lapierre (FR) are subject to separate proceedings. Sources: Tweewieler (11 Aug 2026, updated 12 Aug 2026), DutchNews (12 Aug 2026). Update (25 August 2026): The French subsidiary Cycles Lapierre (Dijon) was placed in receivership (redressement judiciaire) with a six-month observation period by the Dijon commercial court on 25 August 2026 at its own request — a consequence of the parent's insolvency and the weak European bicycle market (L'Usine Nouvelle, 25 August 2026). Update (23.09.2026): The Dutch administrators are selling stock through Accell's own sales channels rather than at auction and have offered 65 former employees temporary two-month contracts to do so. At the time of bankruptcy the company held bikes worth €47.8m and parts/accessories worth €38.6m; around 60 suppliers are claiming goods and 434 creditors have filed claims of just over €38.4m (NieuwsFiets, 23.09.2026: https://nieuwsfiets.nu/2026/09/23/curatoren-creeren-nieuw-werk-voor-accell-medewerkers/). Update (30.09.2026): The administrators of Accell Nederland sold the entire Dutch bicycle stock – according to the buyer several tens of thousands of bikes from brands including Batavus, Sparta and Koga – to the retailer 12GO Biking; no price was disclosed. Separately, around 60 parties are interested in continuing the business or individual brands, according to NU.nl (NieuwsFiets, 30.09.2026).
