Damen to cut around 225 jobs in the Netherlands

Dutch shipbuilder Damen plans to cut around 225 of roughly 4,000 jobs (5.5%) in the Netherlands, according to the unions De Unie and CNV; the company confirmed the restructuring, which it says will make the organisation simpler and more efficient. The cuts are spread over 12 to 18 months and affect all divisions; Damen intends to rely on natural attrition but has not ruled out compulsory redundancies.
