Legal & General to cut around 1,000 jobs in London by mid-2027

London-based insurance and pensions group Legal & General told staff on 23 Sep 2026, in an email from CEO António Simões, that around 1,000 jobs will go by mid-2027 – roughly a tenth of its workforce of about 10,000, most of whom are in the UK. The process starts with voluntary departures, but compulsory redundancies are not ruled out depending on take-up; the company says its structures have become more complex than necessary over the years (Personnel Today, 24 Sep 2026; first reported by Bloomberg).
