Gunfleet Sands 1 and 2 wind farm off Essex with 172 MW is operational

Gunfleet Sands 1 & 2 sits in the Thames Estuary about 7 km off Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, and comprises 48 Siemens SWT-3.6-107 turbines totalling 172 MW (Phase 1: 30 turbines/108 MW, Phase 2: 18 turbines/64 MW). It is operated by Ørsted (51%) together with Marubeni Corporation and the Development Bank of Japan; the farm began feeding power to the grid from August 2009 and was formally opened on 15 June 2010, with development costs cited at around DKK 4 billion.
