After the talks mediated by the Ministry of Enterprise (MIMIT) collapsed, Electrolux confirmed on 4 September 2026 that 1,450 jobs will go at its Italian plants (down from the 1,700 announced in May) and that 135 fixed-term contracts will not be renewed; the closure of the Cerreto d'Esi plant stands with no alternative. The unions FIM, FIOM and UILM declared the negotiations failed and called eight-hour strikes at all plants for 15 September 2026 (Teleborsa, 7 September 2026). Definitive entry; the 12 May 2026 announcement (entry c708065e) no longer carries a figure. Update (15 September 2026): The eight-hour strike at all Italian plants took place on 15 September 2026; the same day, after meeting the unions, minister Adolfo Urso convened a new negotiating table with the company, local institutions and social partners for 5 October 2026 at the Mimit (Mimit, 15 September 2026). Update (28.09.2026): The unions have called a new strike at all Electrolux plants and a rally outside the ministry for 05.10.2026, the day of the negotiating table at the Mimit (Il Fatto Quotidiano, 28.09.2026). Update (5 Oct 2026): At the negotiating table at the industry ministry (Mimit), Electrolux withdrew the unilateral dismissals; its new plan instead offers incentives for 1,250 voluntary departures over three years (650 blue-collar and 600 white-collar workers), backed by the extraordinary wage guarantee fund. The closure of Cerreto d'Esi stands, with a reindustrialisation project to follow there; a technical meeting is set for 8 October and a plenary session for 29 October 2026 (Il Sole 24 Ore, 5 Oct 2026).
