Network operator RFI will put the new Giachery–Porto–Politeama section of Palermo's ring railway into technical operation on 25.10.2026; it serves the new Palermo Porto and Palermo Politeama stops, is electrified at 3 kV DC and designed for a maximum of 85 km/h. Theoretical capacity rises from 2 to 3 trains per hour; the start of passenger service is a separate date that is still open. Announced on 26.09.2026 (Sicilia in Progress, 26.09.2026).
