Euskotren opens new Herrera–Galtzaraborda alignment near San Sebastián

The new alignment of the Euskotren Topo line between Herrera and Galtzaraborda entered service on 18 July 2026, integrating the former Altza branch into the main line and turning Altza into a through station. Construction began in February 2022 with an investment of around EUR 64 million. The realignment enables a train every 7.5 minutes between Amara and Pasaia, with ridership on the Donostia–Errenteria corridor expected to roughly double to about 4 million passengers annually.
