SAIC to build its first European car plant in Galicia

The Chinese carmaker SAIC (MG) is building its first European passenger car plant in Galicia. At least 1,000 direct jobs are expected, as well as several thousand indirect jobs in logistics and supply. Update 8 July 2026: investment firmed up at €200m and around 2,300 direct jobs (assembly plant at Ferrol's outer port for up to 120,000 vehicles/year, operational before end-2028, plus a logistics hub in As Pontes); the first car carrier with 700 MGs arrived on 8-9 July to validate logistics.
