Moldova swears in new government under Prime Minister Tofan

Twelve ministers of the previous government stay on and four portfolios are newly filled; priorities are EU integration, economic growth and security

President Maia Sandu had nominated Tofan, proposed by the governing PAS party, on 11 Jul 2026, a week after the resignation of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu; parliament passed a vote of confidence on 21 Jul. On 22 Jul 2026 Sandu signed the decree appointing the cabinet (Liga.net, 22 Jul 2026).
