Single-source report: according to Sky News, Brazilian digital bank Nubank is in early talks to buy UK neobank Monzo, with a price of £8bn to £10bn mentioned. Monzo has hired Morgan Stanley and Qatalyst as advisers and is also weighing a funding round at a valuation above £8bn; Nubank did not comment on speculation, Monzo declined to comment, and no formal offer has been made (Sky News via City AM, 26.09.2026). Update (30 Sep 2026): Nu Holdings, Nubank's parent, told the US Securities and Exchange Commission in a filing that, while it has great respect for Monzo, it is not pursuing a transaction with the bank; it said it does not usually comment on individual opportunities but was making an exception because of the media speculation, and that its capital allocation model is unchanged. The filing was signed by investor relations director Guilherme Souto. Bloomberg News had earlier reported that Monzo hired Morgan Stanley and the law firm Slaughter & May to assess a possible deal (Bloomberg Línea, 30 Sep 2026).
