Megasa to invest over €300m in solar plants at Seixal and Maia

Spanish steel group Megasa (formerly Siderurgia Nacional) is investing over €300 million in self-consumption photovoltaic units at its two Portuguese plants in Seixal and Maia, the country's two largest electricity consumers. The announcement came on 10 September 2026 following a visit by the Prime Minister to the Seixal plant and confirmation of extended state compensation for energy-intensive firms' indirect CO2 costs for 2025-2026 (ECO, 10 Sept 2026). No new jobs are mentioned.
