- On 21 Oct 2026 the European Parliament approves, by 651 votes to 17 with 3 abstentions, €489m from the EU Solidarity Fund for Portugal, Spain, Italy and Malta
Portugal €261.5m, Spain €149.1m, Italy €74.9m, Malta €3.7m for recovery work after the storms and floods of January and February 2026
The money comes from the EU Solidarity Fund; Italy and Malta were hit by storm Harry in January 2026, while Portugal and Spain had requested help after the floods of February 2026. ANSA gives the split as €261.5m for Portugal, €149.1m for Spain, €74.9m for Italy and €3.7m for Malta (ANSA, 21 Oct 2026).
