Rheinmetall ammunition plant in Lithuania gets environmental approval

Lithuania's Environmental Protection Agency has approved the environmental impact assessment for the ammunition factory being built in Radviliškis district and found no significant environmental impact. The plant is to produce up to 75,000 155 mm artillery shells a year; buildings and structures cover 3.5 of 340 ha, with shell filling, assembly, component manufacturing and ammunition bunkers among the planned facilities. Rheinmetall holds 51% of the joint venture, state-owned Epso-G Invest 48%; the source gives neither investment amount nor job numbers (LRT English, 23 Oct 2026).
