Reported (dpa, 1 September 2026, via Yahoo Finance/Aachener Zeitung): Rheinmetall plans a technology and innovation centre for artificial intelligence, digitalisation and satellite technology next to its existing Neuss plant, with an investment of around €250 million. According to Mayor Reiner Breuer, about 500 scientists are to work there and production is to grow by about 700 employees — around 1,200 additional jobs in total; the figures come from the city's account, no Rheinmetall press release was available. Update (6 Oct 2026): Serial production of SAR satellites has started in Neuss, built by Rheinmetall Iceye Space Solutions GmbH, in which Rheinmetall holds 60%, with Finland's Iceye as partner. About 50 satellites a year are planned, and in early 2027 the first satellite built in Neuss is to be put into orbit on a SpaceX rocket. The satellites are 3.3 m long and 0.8 m wide and weigh around 220 kg (dpa-AFX/aero.de, 6 Oct 2026).
