Swedbank to cut around 500 jobs group-wide, 100 in the Baltics

Swedbank is laying off around 500 staff across the group; in Estonia and the other Baltic states the figure is about 100 of more than 6,000 employees there, according to Baltic head Olavi Lepp. The bank points to a reorganisation of work and normalised profitability after heavy development investment in earlier years, and offers retraining. Lepp does not rule out further cuts as AI is rolled out (ERR News, 27 Oct 2026).
