Lenzing AG will phase out fibre production at its Heiligenkreuz site in Burgenland by the end of 2026 and then seek to sell the site; 285 employees are affected and covered by an existing redundancy agreement. The move is part of the 'Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles' programme presented on 27 July 2026, which concentrates fibre production on selected core sites. Group-wide headcount is to fall by around 2,000 by the end of 2027 from about 8,100 employees (7,700 full-time equivalents at the end of 2025); the plan is flanked by a capital increase of up to €300m and new credit facilities of up to €300m. Second source: ORF Burgenland. UPDATE (3 August 2026): Lenzing convened an extraordinary general meeting for 25 August 2026 to decide on the capital increase of up to €300m — part of a financing package totalling around €600m. Update (21 October 2026): Lenzing has completed its capital increase: 99% of the roughly 34.4 million new shares at €8.65 were taken up through subscription rights and the consortium banks sold the rest in the market; gross proceeds were €301.2m (FashionUnited, 21 October 2026).
