Infineon to invest €1.1bn in GaN chip production in Villach

Infineon plans to invest about €1.1bn in Villach by 2034 to build high-volume production of gallium nitride power semiconductors on 300 mm wafers, with output due to start at the end of 2027. Austria supports the project with €319m of state aid (see policy entry f8ce6c0f); the company gives no figure for new jobs (Dolomitenstadt, 27 October 2026; second source: electrive, 28 October 2026).
