On 18 September 2026 the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, announced an agreement with Abenójar Tungsten under which the processing plant for tungsten ore from the gold and tungsten mine at Abenójar will be sited in Puertollano, creating around 200 jobs there. The regional government says the mine itself will bring more than 400 direct jobs, and puts the total investment in the project at more than €200m (MiCiudadReal, 18 Sep 2026).
